Cross-filtering is what happens when a click on one chart filters the others. Click the bar for North in a revenue-by-region chart, and the category pie, the monthly trend and the table all narrow to the north. Click again, or reset the filters, and they come back.
It turns a page of separate charts into one question you can refine: which region, then which category in it, then which month. Without it, each chart answers only the question it was built for.
Where it appears in DASH:Gen
Every HTML dashboard cross-filters. The file carries its rows, and the filtering is computed in the browser from them, so it works offline and needs no server. A chart you can click shows click to filter in its header; the filter bar at the top shows what is selected. Try it on the Sales example. In Power BI, the same behaviour is Power BI's own, driven by the relationships of the model.
Try it without an account
Three HTML dashboards, one Power BI report and one Apache Superset bundle a day need no sign-up and no card. No file to hand? Pick Sales under the drop zone.
